Who is Keystone Elder Law? | Keystone Elder Law – Mechanicsburg, PA

On a recent Friday, the Keystone Elder Law staff did something unusual– we did not answer our phones for several hours!  Instead, we invested most of the day to meet with a strategic planning consultant to explore our mission and direction.  In preparation for the day, we were assigned the homework task of thinking about these questions and more:

  • What do you see as the strengths of Keystone Elder Law?
  • What are the weaknesses?
  • What are the barriers Keystone Elder Law faces?
  • What do you think is the single most important thing people should know about Keystone Elder Law?

Some of you were telephoned and surveyed with similar questions by our consultant, and we thank you for your participation.

What did we learn?  Both our staff and our clients used similar words to describe our services:  caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable.  It took a while before anyone used the word “legal services” to describe what we do.  Clearly, what makes us different are the types of services that we offer to address the emotional and logistical  challenges of helping you–  our clients and partners in caregiving–   to navigate the long term care system.  At the core of what makes us unique is that we employ two experienced social workers– John Reese and Jenni Truskey.  We also recognized that probably no law firm in Central Pennsylvania is better equipped or more determined to help families suffering from dementia, or wartime Veterans who are not yet receiving the long term care pension that they earned.

As Keystone Elder Law grows to meet the needs of our community’s aging senior adults and their caregivers, we will do our best to provide compassionate services that are needed.  If you have ideas of what we should be doing, or maybe what we could do differently or better, please tell us in a way that is convenient and comfortable for you.  It is always a privilege to learn a new or different perspective of an opportunity to use the talents of our staff in the most meaningful way possible!
